A new dawn for Rotary in Somerton & District has arrived!

A small group of committed people have gathered to develop a programme of activity to allow Rotary to support the communities of Somerton and surrrounding villages.

The group meets usually on the third TUESDAY of each month, usually in The Globe, Somerton at 7.30pm for about an hour and a half.

The priorities for the Club are:-

1. Support education and young people.

2. Protect the environment, and where possible, link this work to young people.

3. Provide a social environment for members to build relationships

Other issues that the Club has considered are some international interaction and liasons with other Rotary Clubs & groups.

The Club does not want to meet too regularly as all of us are still in work or business, with some having other family commitments. Our Rotary has to have purpose!

Our first project in 2020 is to engage with the local schools (Somerton infants, Somerton juniors, Long Sutton and Charlton Mackrell) and Somerton youth club and to introduce them to the array of youth awards and initiatives that Rotary organises across the country.

Additionally, we are working on a tree planting project in collaboration with Somerton Town Council.

We will also be supporting the Langport & Somerton Club with it's Charity May Bash on May 16th, "Know Your Blood Pressure" stroke awareness in event on 18th April and helping out the Somerset Steam Fair at Low Ham in July.
