We are proud of our community and will do all we can to support it. Our fundraising activities are fun as well as financially beneficial to the causes we support.
Below is a snapshot of what we are getting up to during the autumn and winter of 2016.
On Saturday 3rd September we will be attending the Drayton Street Fair, where our Rotary Club gazebo will be set up in School Street, outside Tim Loosemore’s house. Our aim is to promote all the good work our club does, but also demonstrate ‘Waterbox’ and ‘School in a Bag’. For this fun family event we also intend having three fund raising games, these being Darts to win a prize, Splat the Rat, and Open the Box to win a tenner.
One of our main fund raiser again this year, will be our Charity Barn Dance which will be in Curry Rivel Village Hall on Saturday 15th October. Last year we raised over £1000 for the ‘Forget Me Not’ Memory Cafe in Langport, and this year we hope to raise a similar amount for ‘bibic’. ‘bibic’ is the acclaimed national charity based in Langport, that improves the live of brain injured children.
We will have the same caller and music as last year, and have kept the price per ticket at an affordable £5. Again as last year fantastic, home made hot food will be available to purchase.
Other activities that we have caried out during 2016 include supporting the Stroke Awareness project by offering free blood pressure tests for residents; supported a Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot in aid of the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance; and raised "funds through fun" at the Somerton Fair.
